Our client, an Australian insurance broker, sought to sponsor a highly skilled insurance professional to manage a state office using the 457 visa. The visa applicant was aged over 50 meaning that any transition to permanent residency would only be possible under exceptional circumstances.

The visa holder is now in his 3rd year of the 457 visa, safe in the knowledge that the prerequisites for permanent residency continue to be met and with a plan to apply for the 186 visa after 4 years continuous employment with his sponsor.
