Jackson is an Australian immigration lawyer and Registered Migration Agent who has worked in the immigration sector for more than 12 years.

Jackson’s work in immigration law focuses on providing advice to employers on all aspects of Australian migration law. Jackson is particularly interested in the confluence of immigration and employment law and how government policy shapes the experiences of temporary migrants in the workplace. He is also interested in policy reform in business and skilled migration, using academic research to improve migration outcomes, and employer compliance.

Jackson has spoken at national and state conferences on employer sponsored migration and been cited in the Australian Financial Review on migration matters. He has also made numerous submissions to government and parliamentary inquiries into the effectiveness of the Australian migration system.

Jackson is also an accredited mediator and conducts workplace investigations, mediation, and training in workplace discrimination, harassment, and bullying.

Immigration Experience

  • Ongoing account management for large international engineering company using more than 200 short stay and temporary visas per year including all aspects of immigration advice, strategy, risk management, and compliance.
  • Assisted sanctioned employer to audit Sponsorship Obligations and implement relevant record keeping, training, and compliance policies following sponsorship bar and cancellation. Successfully applied for waiver of sponsorship bar on basis of updated systems and processes.
  • Audit and reconciliation of more than 400 visa holder records for global resource firm to ensure full compliance with immigration requirements.
    • Completed high profile workplace investigation following allegations aired on national current affairs program
    • Delivery of tailored discrimination, bullying and harassment training to private, government and not for profit organisations.
