What is the PMSOL?

The Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List (PMSOL) identifies occupations that fill critical skills needs to support Australia’s economic recovery from COVID-19. The list is based on expert advice from the National Skills Commission with consultation from Commonwealth departments.

Employer sponsored nomination and visa applications with an occupation on the PMSOL will be given priority processing. All other skilled occupation lists will remain active, but the PMSOL occupations will take priority.

Employer sponsored nomination and visa applications with an occupation on the PMSOL are given priority processing.  This includes applications for the following visas:

  1. Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa (subclass 482)
  2. Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 494)
  3. Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) visa (subclass 186)
  4. Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) visa (subclass 187)

A foreign national sponsored by an employer to work in Australia in an occupation on the PMSOL is also eligible for a travel exemption (though at a formal request must still be lodged with the Australian Border Force Commissioner and existing visa process and quarantine rules continue to apply).
